Coordination Effort
In our last Newsletter we told you that a Common Ground house church leader had been injured in a mowing accident and that the family's house would need significant rehab work, so Mission Indy offered our project management and coordination skills.

Jeremy Clay has continued to lead that effort on a "Fast Track" basis and the family belongings were moved back into the house on Saturday, December 13th, right on time!

The project has come a long way and the scope has grown as time has gone along. From the early demolition of interior walls like is shown above to the re-framing as below, many improvements and modifications have been made for disability access.

Walls and ceilings now have insulation where there was none before. The electrical service has been upgraded to new wiring and a 200 amp service! New drywall and skilled help from family

members make things look so nice!

Some rooms were reconfigured and the master bathroom area was formed from one of the original bedrooms.

Several different skilled people, some friends and family members, and others just church brothers and sisters, have come through to help on the project.

The tile work in the master bathroom is gorgeous and exceptionally high quality. Many hours of attention to detail and love were put into this work!

The kitchen was another area that needed to be reworked to allow for accessibility and ease of use by someone in a wheelchair. There are more cabinets now and the spaces for storage and preparation are well designed.

Another upgrade was that new windows were installed on both floors!

So in addition to helping the family on utility bills, they will be doing their part to help them be more responsible citizens in this ever-changing global economy!

Although many friends from Common Ground have given of their time and skill to see the project through, Jeremy's role in coordinating those activities has been crucial to getting the project this far. However, as he and all of us acknowledge, there is no human way this much quality work could have been accomplished in this short of time unless God had been leading and guiding the whole process!

So, we are first of all thankful for God's provision and secondly relieved that the project is winding down.

Nov Service Days
On November 15th, we had two groups working in separate projects from the one described on the previous page, for our regular Mission Indy Service Day.

One group was University Fellows, a service group from Anderson University. They were led by two former Summer Staffers, Laura Lovern and Joey Cari. The group went to help a ministry called Our Home Ministry located in an old school building at 21st and College. Their role was to paint and other wise help prepare the building for an upcoming Christmas party for inner city kids that Arch & Connie Nevins work with. Arch and Connie are part of Common Ground Christian Church and lead a house church there at their "home". Some of the house church members were also there helping to create a fun and beautiful area for the Christmas party activities!

The other group was from St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Lafayette, Indiana. Ron Greiner led the group in demolishing an old and unstable garage on one of the Englewood Community Development properties, currently occupied by one of the women in the Women-In- Motion program. It was a cold and rainy day, so the work conditions were the worst possible for this type of work. However, the group did not complain and accomplished nearly all of the demolition, which would have been a good day's work, even with good weather! Because of the weather and other issues, we could not get any pictures from this day.

First we had to remove the roof shingles and roof decking, so to do it safely we set up scaffolding on both sides of the garage and then stood on the walk boards to avoid stepping on the weak roof. Work continued down the roof and walls until we
reached the ground level. Some of the group did a nice job of packing the dumpster so we could get as much a s possible into it. I think all those participating in this cold and wet project slept very well that night!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Mission Indy would like to wish all of you a very merry Christmas as you celebrate the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May we all continue to be amazed by His willingness to leave all that He had and was entitled to in heaven, to come to be with mankind! May we all remember that truly He i8s the "Reason for the Season" and so we give because He first gave to us!

Tough Times
We all know that times are tough economically. I receive requests from multiple ministries and missions telling about their economic shortfalls. Mission Indy has been blessed in that over the years we have not experienced a down turn in giving and God has helped us to always keep our spending within our income levels. That has changed a little bit recently, and so we will begin 2009 forced to reduce our budget by $25,000. Of course, we continue to believe, and by God's grace always will, that He owns it all and will provide for all He wants us to accomplish. However, we still feel the need to be responsible and top act within the wisdom he gives us.

So we ask two things of you all. First, please pray for us to have His wisdom and make the decisions He wants us to. Secondly, for those of you who may have the means, or know someone who does, would you prayerfully consider helping Mission Indy as this year ends and the new one begins?

The chart below will show that we have managed the cash flow well, and that currently we are in good shape.
Financial Report Nov 30
Income:      $173,597
Expenses:  $163,760

Cash Flow: + $9,837

However, the plans that we had felt God leading us towards are on hold for now and that is a major problem. Niccole is only able to work part time and the board has felt for over a year we need help with the project management, yet the shortfall in funds will pretty much eliminate that unless god provides in a new way. We trust Him no matter what!
