Service Day
Cicero Christian Church joined MI for a day of service. The group worked at the childhood home of Ms. Rose Gordon, whom we highlighted last newsletter. Unfortunately, we do not find any pictures from the day (which might point to a service opportunity for one of our readers to come take pictures on our Service Saturdays).

At any rate, members of the youth group did such things as: drove two copper grounding rods into the ground behind the house for the electrical service, continued with the demolition of ceilings in the two kitchens, hauled all the plumbing pipe scrap out to be recycled and hung a few sheets of drywall in the one dining room.

The group worked very hard and a lot was accomplished!

Ms. Gordon was thrilled to meet the group and was so happy with the work they did.

Work will continue for several months to replace all the damaged ceilings, install some donated kitchen cabinets, and then hook back up all the plumbing. The goal is that eventually this property could provide some rental income for this sweet, hard-working 80-year-old grandmother. We hope that many groups will get to meet Rose and be blessed by her spirit and drive!
Saturday Service Day
Help Needed
Mission Indy desires to do a better job with our Saturday Service Days and we need your help! Our goal is to develop a pool of some of you from various churches who are interested and available for perhaps one Saturday per school year.

A few from Englewood CC and one from Chapel Rock have come to a short "training session" designed to give willing folks a better idea of what a Site Leader entails and how easy it can be. Please call Ron at 423-3505 or 538-9565 (cell)

Please pray for this new effort!

Jr. High Journey
The weekend after the Service Day, MI was privileged to once again be featured as the supported mission of Jr. High Journey, a weekend conference for the area Jr. High students, put together by several local youth pastors.

Mission Indy videos prepared by last summer's Media Coordinator — Jenna James — were shown throughout the weekend. In addition, Ron and Niccole were able to go on stage and share stories of how Mission Indy has impacted and engaged youth groups from all over. While pictures like the following flashed on the screen behind us, we asked the students and youth leaders to "imagine" each scenario for their own group.

Jr. High Journey Cont...
The amazing thing is that Jr. High Journey took up offerings to help Mission Indy fund the terrific Summer Internship Program we have each summer. $3000 was donated to Mission Indy! Praise God for His faithfulness and for all those students and youth leaders!
National Missionary Convention
Ron & Marsha were fortunate to represent Mission Indy at NMC 2009 in Peoria, IL.

We set-up a nice double-wide booth, so people could come in, relax and talk.

We were able to talk with many college students about summer internships, connect with many old friends and co-workers, and were inspired by some great preaching and worship!

Ron & Marsha were also privileged to lead a Prayer Encounter with a youth group that attended the convention. This is an effort by convention leaders to expose the students to real-life missionaries and the work they do, complete with the needs they experience.

The group assigned to us was Brownsburg Cornerstone CC, so that was really nice. We were able to share what MI is about. Then we were able to pass out prayer cards and talk about ways the students could pray for us, for the ministry, for the college interns we will work with and for the people we serve when groups come in.
Exciting God-Sized Possibility
As many of you know, MI has long believed that in order to continue to do a quality job with the work God has given us, our staff needs to be expanded to one more full-time person.

We have prayed about that for years, and God has supplied in various ways. Mission Indy has been blessed with several different short-term workers who brought so many skills, abilities and passions to the work. We are thankful to God for each one. However, we are continuing to ask God to provide the right person to help us not only continue what we do, but perhaps expand what we do, particularly with college students.

Mission Indy does not have the salary for this person in hand, nor do we know exactly where it would come from. However, each time God called a person to MI – first with Ron and then with Niccole – He provided once we stepped out in faith. It seems we may be at that place once again. Please pray with us about God's provision.

Humanly speaking, this seems impossible, especially in these tough economic times. We simply understand that God owns it all, and if He calls, He will supply. Hudson Taylor is reported to have said "God's work done is God's way, will not fail to have God's supply"

In addition to praying, would you consider a year-end gift as the Lord provides in your life? Thanks!

Merry Christmas!
