Summer 2011 Week #3 |
|
Grace Missionary Church hosted our 3rd week of the summer from July 10-16th.
A group from Blackhawk Baptist Church out of Ft. Wayne joined us as first-time participants.
The group scraped and painted dugouts and a concession stand for the Grace Church Upward Baseball program.

A group from 1st UMC in Taylorville, IL led a Vacation Bible School at Country Manor Estates, a mobile home court that Grace Church is building a relationship with.
A total of about 40 kids attended over the four days, which was a huge increase from previous years! Praise God!
The group had a great time loving on kids and then serving in the afternoon heat!

The third group serving during Week # 3 was Cumberland CC.
They began the week removing trees and overgrowth near the host church, and then painted a section of house for a retired school teacher.

Summer 2011
Week #4
|
|
Englewood CC hosted the final week of the summer as they have for several years now.
On Monday mornings, some friends, like Jim Aldrich here, put the participants through some practical training before they went out to work sites.
This week in particular involved some interior demolition, so folks had to get geared up. This was part of a group from Gateway CC in West Virginia.
The other half of their group was nearby, some doing demolition and some painting the exterior of a building recently acquired by Englewood Community Development Corporation.

As you can see, this was unique because the group ended up painting murals on the sides of this building.
For the first time ever, there were two Vacation Bible Schools, led by two different groups at different locations.
We may never know how God will grow the seeds of truth planted by groups from Scott Avenue CC and Heartland CC.
One of the morning jobs for part of the Scott Avenue VBS crew was painting the porch at Outreach Inc.
