218 Oxford Street
Over a year ago, Englewood Community Development Corporation asked MI to partner with them on a total house renovation project.

MI has served as the General Contractor and Construction Manager over this past year.

Groups who came during the summer and fall of 2010 began with the interior demolition work

In October of 2010, a group of adults from Brotherhood Mutual Insurance removed some old, split siding and replaced it with the preliminary OSB plywood.

In the process, we found that the

back one third of the house did not have a good foundation, so we tore it off and dug out for a basement to attach to the older existing basement. A lot of that happened over the long winter.

1

Then in late spring things really began to happen as we hired some contractors to do much of the work that groups from churches did not have the skill to do.

2

By late summer a lot of progress had been made. The house was beginning to take real shape and the neighbors were noticing.

As you read this, the project is nearing completion, and a family should be able to buy it and call it home in December.

4

Recently, a group from Hazelwood CC spent a week with us and built the deck on the back of the house, poured 150 of sidewalk and poured a concrete parking pad.

5

We are thankful for this opportunity to help transform a house and to benefit from the contractor’s fee.

Jr. High Journey
For the 6th or 7th year in a row, Mission Indy was the featured mission for the Jr. High Journey Conference held at Anderson University's Reardon Auditorium. Over 1000 students and sponsors attended and were exposed to the ministry and mission of MI.

In 2010, the offerings taken up at the conference were designated for exterior siding on the 218 Oxford house talked about on the previous page. Those offerings covered the entire cost of the siding in 2010.

For 2011, we reported and showed pictures of the house and the siding work to update the participants. Then we told them that for this year, they could participate by helping to supply the drywall for the entire house. One of the ways we engaged the students was to give them an opportunity to sponsor a piece of drywall. Then they could sign a wall we had set up with green drywall on it. That is captured in the picture above.
It was a great time, and the total offerings were over $3,000!

That more than covers the drywall cost so we are thankful to God and to the leadership of Jr. High Journey.
15 Year Celebration
As hard as it is to believe, Mission Indy began 15 years ago when the Youth Ministry program at Chapel Rock Christian Church began serving in the inner city of Indianapolis and started planning for the first summer week-long event in July 1997.

On Friday, January 20, 2012 please join us as we celebrate God’s faithfulness, provision and direction over these 15 incredible years. Several folks who have been instrumental in helping to begin and grow MI plan to join us that evening. So we hope that you will make it a priority and come to hear what they share as well as hear what we believe the future holds for Mission Indy.

You will receive a formal invitation shortly, but we wanted to let you know it was coming. We will share a light dinner and then rejoice together as several people tell different experiences in the history of MI.
Servant Leaders
Needed
During the months of September — November and February — April, MI has church groups who come in for a Saturday Service Day. Sometimes, such as this November, we have close to 50 people. We are in need of adults who would lead a group
of 8–12 as they serve with various projects on the 3rd Saturday of the month. We already have a pool of people we call on and they can usually give us one or two months a year. We do not expect anyone to serve in this way every time we have groups in. You do not need to be an "expert" in the building trades to do this and we will give you some training!

Please contact Ron at (317) 538-9565 if you want to learn more.
Financial Update
Thanks to all for your faithful support that makes all of this "equipping" — training, challenging, motivating and encouraging of teens and adults possible!

We have come to a difficult time in our history as expenses have run out ahead of the income. Fortunately God had blessed MI with a positive cash cushion as we started the year. However, as you can readily see from the simple chart below, our financial standing is headed in the wrong direction.

Income:      $183,781
Expenses: $192,879

Cash Flow - $9,098

Please do a couple of things with us:
  1. Join with us as we thank God for His faithful provision all these years.
  2. Pray with us as we seek God's wisdom and guidance in the future so that we can be sure to be faithful stewards of the money He sends our direction.
  3. Join with us in prayer to identify new sources of income.
